Why Certify?
SCTE certifications enable you, as an individual, to demonstrate proficiency of technical knowledge that is relevant to your career. Our certifications also serve to provide employers with an industry-recognized benchmark for technical expertise that may be incorporated into the hiring, promotion, and other human resource management processes.
Once you have demonstrated your technical knowledge by passing an SCTE certification exam, you will be recognized nationally and internationally in a number of ways:

• SCTE will mail to you a certificate and a certification patch.
• Your name will be added to SCTE's web site as a distinguished individual who has earned SCTE certification.
• You will be recognized in SCTE's newsletter, Interval.
• You will have the privilege of displaying the credential's initials following your name (for example, Your Name, BPT, BPE, BDS)
• You can add SCTE certification logos to your email signature and business cards

In addition, you may be honored with recognition within your respective organization.

SCTE Foundation Grants and Scholarships

The SCTE Foundation provides grants and scholarships to assist SCTE members in their continual pursuit of knowledge, training and professional development in the cable telecommunications industry, and will consider other grant requests consistent with our Mission Statement. All active SCTE members are eligible for SCTE grants and scholarships. The awarded funds can be applied toward any type of cable telecommunications learning opportunity or resource including:

Certification programs

• Seminars, conferences and symposiums
• College, Graduate and Technical courses (in-class or on-line)
• SCTE certification and study resources
• SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, Conference on Emerging Technologies and Chapter Leader Conference
• Jones/NCTI distance learning courses
• Technical Trainer software
• BICSI/RCDD and certification

Any educational program relevant to the individual's cable telecommunications career

The allocation of funds is based upon career goals, availability of alternative financial assistance and supporting recommendations from the applicant's references and is determined by the SCTE Grants or Major Grants Subcommittee, depending on the amount of the funds requested.
