The Importance of Belonging to the Local
SCTE Chapter
Your membership to the local Wheat State Chapter is important
and inexpensive. The yearly membership runs from January through December. If
you join after July 1st, your membership extends through the end of the
following year. By being a members of the Wheat State Chapter, you help support
our chapter financially. The chapter every year supports members sent to the
Cable Tec Expo and the Mid America Show. Additionally, if you are certified in
the BCT/E program, you can count on your yearly membership as a recertification
point each year. Our meeting fees of $15 have remained unchanged since the
chapter started in 1989. Each year we hold 6 seminars that cover a wide range of
technical information important to our members. Belonging to the National SCTE
does not make you a member of the local chapter. You can belong to the local
chapter and not the National SCTE, but we highly encourage you to join the
National as well.
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers is a non-profit professional
association dedicated to advancing the careers and serving the industry of
telecommunication professionals by providing technical training, certification
and standards. Since 1969, the SCTE has continually expanded its resources and
services to meet the changing needs of its members in a rapidly evolving
industry. Today, more than 16,000 engineers, technical professionals,
installers, and managers depend upon the SCTE to deliver the tools they need to
maintain their competitive edge.
As the only cable telecommunications organization accredited by the American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop technical standards, the SCTE
provides a neutral forum for professionals to collaborate on standards that lead
the way to global compatibility.
Our local Wheat State Chapter is dedicated to these same principals. The
seminars are great opportunities for individuals to receive training on a
variety of topics at a very reasonable rate. In order to keep pace with today's
evolving technology, we all must take advantage of every chance available to
increase our technical knowledge.
